Shashin (Sanskrit: शशिन् śaśin m., Nom. Sg. शशी śaśī) wörtl.: "der einen Hasen (Shasha) hat"; Mond. Der Name rührt daher, dass man im Mond die Gestalt eines Hasen (Shasha) gesehen hat.
