<p><b>Neue Seite</b></p><div>'''Bestattung''' ([[Sanskrit]] Pretakarma) Im [[Hinduismus]] ist die Feuerbestattung üblich. Der Leichnam wird frisch gekleidet und mit Blumengirlanden geschmückt. Verbrannt werden die Leichen in der Regel in der Nähe eines Flusses, am meisten bekannt sind die Verbrennungsstätten in der Nähe des Ganges. Für die Verbrennung gibt es bestimmte Rituale, wobei ein naher Verwandter des Toten oder sein ältester Sohn das Feuer anzünden. Nach der Bestattung werden [[Mantra]]s rezitiert und Waschungen durchgeführt. Die Reste der Verbrennung werden in einer Urne gesammelt und vergraben oder in einen Fluss gestreut. Am Ende des Rituals gibt es bestimmte Riten, die dafür sorgen, dass der Verstorbene seinen Platz unter den Ahnen findet und nicht weiterhin als Geist in der Welt herumirrt. Der Grund für eine Feuerbestattung ist die Idee, dass sich eine Seele erst dann reinkarnieren kann, wenn der Körper sich vollständig aufgelöst hat.<br />
