Die Gottheit Alakshmi ist die zweite Frau von [[Kali]], dem männlichen [[Dämon]] der [[Kalki Purana]] und der [[Mahabharata]]. Beschreibungen zufolge soll sie einen trockenen verwelkten [[Körper]], eingefallene Wangen, dicke Lippen und Knopfaugen haben. Ihr Fortbewegungsmittel war ein Esel. Manchmal nimmt sie die Form einer [[Eule]] an, die die Gottheit Lakshmi begleitet. Die Eule steht für Arroganz und Dummheit, die mit dem [[Glück]] einhergeht. Ihr [[Wesen]] wird mit verschiedenen Mythen in Verbindung gebracht.<br />

Eine [[Legende]] besagt, dass Alakshmi [[Prajapati]]s [[Rücken]] entsprungen sei. Eine andere besagt, dass sie aus dem Gift [[Kalakuta]]s entsprang, das aus [[Vasuki]] [[Naga]]s [[Mund]] tröpfelte. Ein anderer Bericht besagt, dass Alakshmi entsetzt darüber war, dass ihre jüngere Schwester die Frau von [[Vishnu]] war und im [[Vaikuntha]] [[Paradies]] lebte. Sie hatte weder einen Ehemann noch ein Zuhause. Lakshmi verfügte, dass der Gott des [[Tod]]es und des Verfalls ihr Ehemann sein werde und dass sie immer dort leben wird, wo Schmutz, Hässlichkeit, [[Neid]], [[Zorn]], Heuchelei und Gier sind.
